Diverse hypertext systems and their commercial products have been also provided by some research groups. Hypertext has shown its tremendous potentialities for multimedia information management. This paper submits the design and implementation method  for a general purpose and object oriented hypertext system, BDCard, which provides features for authoring and browsing on-line documents. It applies to the management of large literature on-line documents, and may be used as a desktop tool to manage a kind of card sets and nodes. This paper describes the purpose, functionality, design principle and implementation method of the BDCard, as well as the data structure of the node, and discusses the two kinds of operating interface  for authoring and browsing.
